It’s really good to see that common man is awaken because now is the high time. It is now or never.

Panel has already finalized all important measures to be taken which were collected from the Indian community in this forum.

Now what more important is, as said by Kiran Bedi we need to be updated after every 3 or 6 months from directly Home ministry.

I will suggest following corporate working style. We already noted down the points, which will be conveyed. Now after every 3 months we need to maintain following track:

1. Progress against every point.

2. Pending items/Todo for every point.

3. Expected deadline without extensions.

4. Precise information on responsible person/department

For every update just publish this detail report on front page of the News papers, Index page of news channels, our websites, Blogs on every possible corner. Then let’s see who dares!!

Cleared SCWCD 1.4

So after several reschedules I cleared SCWCD1.4 on 29 May 2007 with 84%. It was a nice experience as I didn't have to study a lot like SCJP5. I was working on web technologies since 2 years, which was helpful. So here are my experiences.

* Disclaimer
Ha, simply I am not responsible for any thing as all these are my personal feelings and experiences. So as usually don’t blame for me anything.

* SCWCD or SCBCD?
Many people argue that SCWCD is obsolete now with introduction to JSF, Struts etc. And that's why investment in SCBCD is more fruitful than SCWCD. In my view, it depends upon the requirement, a developer's profile. BCD is at its place, but SCWCD is no way short at any side.
Only because of this certification, came to know that I also can use JSTL, even can develop my own custom tags (which previously was a mystery for me), and EL? it just simplifies every thing in JSP. How many of web developers are aware of Listeners or the sequence of events happening in background? Security is the concept which I knew is important but never dare to look into it, now I can talk on it . Deployment and design patterns are topics of my interest and I scored good in both. And I know they will help me lot in long term.
So taking SCWCD is a wise decision.

* How to prepare?
I referred "Head First Servlet & JSP" by K & B & Bryan. And it’s sufficient to clear the exam with a nice score. For Design Patterns I referred Deshmukh’s Book. It is a nice book. Apart from that I also tried some mocks (Not much). Moreover there is lots of stuff on net.
Revision of HFServlet & JSP bullets point and exercises with No Dumb Questions helps a lot.
In the last, Final quiz from HFSJ is mandatory. And guys say that:
Final exam’s score + 20 = SCWCD score
Even though in my case it was amusing. I scored 58% in final mock and 84% in SCWCD, almost reverse ;-). I guess I was feeling sleepy in mock exam :-P.

* Battle Field
This time I already told exam coordinator to reduce the intensity of Air conditioner. Otherwise…. The scene used to chill the nerves. Start with easy picking questions. In other iteration make your head work and solve most of the questions. Mark and leave them, if they are taking much time. Also be careful for Drag and Drop questions. They used to be easy but if you answer them once, and will attempt again, a message will appear which clearly says that your previous answer for the question will be reset. So attempt them only once and forget them. I found that time is not a problem for SCWCD as claimed by others. Either you know or not. In last, revise at a glance all of your answers, may be you will catch some of nonsense mistakes (I used to do them). That’s it, score report will print as usual. And after SCJP experience I was aware of the speed of printer. So I waited, …… Oh! My score was 84% , fine for easy going preparation.

* Value of Certification
When I posted blog on SCJP in past, I remember i was searching for a good Company to give me a chance and today I am in IBM India Pvt Ltd. Certification helped me in improving my knowledge, confidence and profile.

* Appraisal for HFSJ
Must say that it is the best book available in market, which actually speaks with the reader. A GUI based book is more effective than any other method. Whenever I tried to skip any exercise… it prompted me… “Wait, this exercise is not optional” – and I had to solve that exercise with a smile. Every important point was boldly mentioned – no way can any reader skip it. Questions in exercised are close to exam except that I always missed correct number of questions (I want to show my anger hgggxxxx).
Simply this book burns every important bit into your memory’s hardware (hope memory is not RAM).

So now i am an IBMer :-)
As usual it was a struggle (for which i am now habitual) from starting to sitting in my new cubical, even then now i am at my new IBM premise and own cubical. Now i wish to stick with this Big Elephant for some good amount of time.
IBM's work culture and policies (except appraisals) is really good. TRUST is the keyword here. Nobody is the supervisor here . IBM don't keep login,logout attendance etc all those tracking. They just trust their employees, and expect them to be the owner of their work. Here work environment is also cool, work used to be their, but they promote the perfect balance between professional and personal life. Work from home, is the concept propagated by IBM.

They said, its a ocean and so ha some advantages and disadvantages. Numerous verticals, countless technologies, various roles and responsibilities. And best thing is that IBM gives surplus number of expert trainings, seminars, workshops etc to excel.
But in this ocean it is very easy to lost. In this huge organization making your own entity is a challenge. Apart from this, i also heard that appraisals happen just for formality.

Well lets see, its just the beginning.

So i have completed one month in Nucleus Software, Noida.

Ya i was struggling and by blessings of parents and god i crossed a major line.
When i was selected in Nucleus. So now i m among the big players. It is a mid level company, and i am completely satisfied that i am growing step by step. Which i think is very necessary for long term growth.

It was a tough competetion particulary my luck always takes care that things should become difficult for me, also i must say i spend some restless days in the front of mobile to receive a single confirmation call. It took long, but was fruitfull.

And now i am at Noida's office. I have to left my parents, newly building home, friends, hometown. But it was a destiny. And it happened.

The best part was when i received mails from my dear ones, saying that ' You deserve it.'
Now i am looking positive for future. I want to run, run and .... run.
Well for now i am missing my mother.....

My Experiences With SCJP 5

1. Disclaimer
I don't know is it needed or not ? But frankly this is the place, most of the times for me and my friends only. And these are my personal experiences so please don't blame me for anything wrong.

2. In Short
SCJP1.5 is a nice paper, which will test you on anything specified within the syllabus. I observed that 1/3 questions were real fun, 1/3 were all right in which candidate have to scratch at least his/her mind and rest were BOSS questions.
If worked properly, you can obtain 85+ easily.

4. Test Centers, Voucher & Scheduling
A list of Prometric testing center's is available online at http://www.2test.com .
In India the voucher cost is Rs 7200/-.
I scheduled the exam one week before, but my one friend told me that he done it on the spot, but its better to scheduled before so that you can make a good plan.

5. Time needed to prepare
This is a very platform dependent question & it depends upon you only. But 2-3 months intensive preparation is a good time period if you are already familiar with Java. And if you are working like me then you may have to prepare irregularly which can extend the preparation to even 6 or more months. In mine case, it was around 5-6 months.

6. Books
Their may be many books but for SCJP5 :

You may try Khalid Mugal first, I did that even though its only for SCJP1.4

Khalid Mugal is very compressive and can be used apart from SCJP for reference.
While K & B are among the exam creators and their book is only focused on the exam with some interesting amusement.

8. Procedure & Preparation:
Simple:
Books -> Exercises in them -> Revision -> Mocks

And Last minute Drills from the book.
I will suggest not to dive directly into the mocks unless you are habitual of hypertension.
First go through books and then mocks are must.

9. Are you ready for exam?
It depends upon you and you will know it surely.
Most of the times when you start scoring 80+ then its time to call Sun.

10. So its Battlefield
When you will be on the exam desk, unlike other battlefields, your playground will be chilled from outside and most probably you can hear your heart beats. For first stage you will struggle hard to concentrate on the exam and to have a feel of the environment.

First of all a survey about your java experience will be presented to you, and 15 minutes are allotted for this survey.
After it? on your mark, get set go.

As suggested in K & B, have a quick look for cherry pick questions. You should have familiarization & then, when you will start medium questions, it will boost your confidence. Now at this stage you will be in the 5th gear.
Then after fighting with BOSS questions and marked Review, either time will finish or you will press finish exam. What ever it be, automatically print command will execute, and then you have to wait on official's desk for print out (it was the longest waiting time. I don't know why printers are so slow? )

11. Problems You may face
Automatically resetting of Drag & Drop questions, if you will review them.
Natural calls ?? haha no way.
And Air Conditioner, ya for people like me, my environment switched from Delhi's hot climate to AC room so quickly that with in 30 minutes I knew that my stomach is going to upset. ooop, have a break plllzzz...
Ambiguous language, even though it is rare.(But i encountered atleast one, and I commented it :-) )

12. Tips
* First of all, know the fact that if you followed proper path, their is no fear of failing.
* Any drinking etc must do before exam
* First survey is fine, which asks for your java experience(spent some time on this to have a feel of environment), but if I remember correctly their was a another form which was asking my permission, if they can contact me for promotional schemes of their products, BEWARE I saw that time was already started for exam at this point of time.
* Threads & Generics were tooooo much on the exam.
* While preparation, Code small examples to make clear point, particularly odd ones
* Drag & Drop, questions were really plain simple if you know API's . Attempt them in last and don't review them.
* In whizlab's SCJP5 simulator, Drag & Drop questions, I observed that once you dragged a answer you cannot remove it easily. But real exam is cool for adding or removing options, except resetting problem .
* While exam, believe me, don't think about result, just concentrate on the questions and do your best.

Cleared SCJP5

So at last!!
After a long delay, i cleared SCJP5.
It is another thing that i scored merely 76% when i was hoping 85+.
Surely it was only my fault. I din't revised properly as i was just frustated with the delay and i decided to give exam thats it. I think i lacked some code practice also. And at last, my crazy schedule was amazing.
I did a 5-5 night shift, then traveled from Jan Shatabdi to delhi till 1 Noon,
searched center and attempted exam at 2-5 Pm.

Well, its fine. Now its a nice experiance to be Sun Certified Java Programmer, SE5.
next time i will keep my mistakes in mind.
Ya ofcourse this certification was enough reason to celebrate, and relax for sometime.

Ho ho ,
So at last, my exams are over and now its only last sem is for training, no exams ;-)

And to celebrate i m with my friends, noddy and sriraz are here.
Today enjoyed with poonam & himanshu. But next sunday noddy will return to pune, accha nahi legega.
Now lets c, how many more days i will avoid SCJP. Because now i have nothing else apart from this job.

Thanks God! Got some time today.
So my 3 exams r over and 4th one is on 17 of this month. And i m becoming better with every exam.
Haha their was a time, when i used to do one night fight for exams, then i improved myself and i started to study for few hours before exam :-D, and now ?

This time i went for Graphics Exam, and smiled when question paper was of VB.NET ;-D
Even then hihi,my one friend told me that, i again scored top in previous sem.

And in office our net connection was suffering from paralysis. Today it got better only. So at last i saw my inbox and as expected gmail was waiting for me with around 90 new mails for me, including my friends one. So after clearing now my gmail inbox has 2931 unread mails haha :).
I can't understand why these guys send forwarded messages ? Atleast for me instead of 100 forwards just a "HI" is sufficient.

Really a nice book.
I heard a lot about the book, and i must say that its one of the best book. What i liked is its simple and naughty presentation, which made it very interesting.

I already completed Khalid Mughal, so now i m finding it easy while traveling K & B. I am on the finshing of 2nd chapter.

My MCA exams are from 30 march, so i have to mix my job, MCA exams and ofcourse SCJP.

My new HDD had bad sector, i replaced that and installed XP with Suse Linux.
And most important thing, i recieved much awaited SCJP 5 by K&B.

Yops, today i viewed enhanced for loop, covarags, scanner and printf in Java5.

Among these i really liked scanner and printf, as they really make programmer's life easy and ofcourse these were the features all people were eagrly waiting for.

My friend told me that tomarrow he will purchase my requested book,
i.e. SCJP 5 by K & B.
I am hoping i will start the same by this monday.

And at last finally, vikram confirmed that i have to purchase a brand new Hard Disk :(
my old HDD is now a good past.

Today 3 important things happened.

First of all i talked to my, one time far and now very close senior bhiyya Anil sir.
i remembered that we used to call him bihari sir, haha, even though he is from lucknow,
but he seems to change a lot, he called and surprised me. Nice guy.

Second thing was Shikhu viewed my greetings now, after more than half month.
what a damm carelessness.

And third thing was that nikki chatted for a long, she is coming doon. She amazed me by helping when my other friends were saying that they r not getting time.

Till this point my plan was to complete for scjp1.4 and give lots of mock exams so that i can gear for scjp1.5
but i am little late, as their are many mock exams to practice.

I was really so busy.

Cool,
late for a IT guy to entered into blogs era, but still i start blogging.
I was thinking, what a mess that i am in office in midnight even on this sunday, oops now its monday,
but well i started to post blogs thats the good thing i earn from this night shift.

Today i utilised my sunday day time for preparing the SCJP. And after a long time i am feeling that still i can study as a student other wise to cope with work and study as well is really tough but thats how life goes : )
